Meet Tonia Klein

Tonia was born and raised in West Allis, WI. She started framing in 2004 and has worked at multiple frame shops over the years, building her knowledge and experience of the craft.

Tonia is a painter and photographer as well, and holds a B.F.A. from MIAD. Her understanding of the fine arts allows her to better serve our customers' needs.

What's the craziest thing you've framed?

It's a toss up between a dozen Turkish rugs and a race car driver's fire suit.

How would you describe your framing style?

Sleek and elegant. I like fabric mats, fillets and closed corner frames. They can be mixed and matched in all different ways for pieces of different styles.

What's your favorite frame and why?

I love this Rhonda Feinman custom closed corner frame. It's different and there is anothing like it on the wall. It straddles the line between contemporary and traditional. This frame can be completely customized! I would order it with a sage green panel and white gold ornamentation. We can have this made to any color specifications a customer would want.

Words of wisdom to clients:

• A 3" wide mat is the minimum because anything smaller than that makes the artwork look crowded.
• Don't every buy a polystyrene frame! It's not going to last.
• Never dry mount original artwork! It devalues the piece, so I always advise against it.
• Always use a UV protected glass on photographs and watercolors because they will fade quickly.
